If the tooth is damaged in any way, bacteria can get inside causing you pain, swelling and lead to an abscess. Our dentists will then remove the infection from the root canal, clean it up and fill them in to prevent any further infection. After this process you may need a crown to help support the tooth.

Your Root Canal Treatment Journey
1. Consultation
The first step on your treatment journey with Dental Smiles Takeley is consultation. It helps us to assess your mouth, allows us to look over your dental history, and ensures you can discuss your treatment in advance and answer any questions you might have.
2. Treatment
Your dentist will numb the affected area and place a thin rubber sheet (Dental Rubber dam) inside your mouth. This will protect the rest of your mouth while the affected tooth is being worked on. The Dentist will then clean out all the infection , then will fill it and seal it off with a temporary filling. Sometimes these appointments can be split into two to make sure the tooth is fully clean and infection free.
The next appointment will be to have the filling changed from temporary to permanent and if the tooth was badly damaged, your dentist might suggest a crown to be fitted.
3. Aftercare
