Dental Implants are small medical grade titanium replacements for missing teeth. They have porcelain dental crowns attached to restore the appearance and function of the teeth Another option would be to have dental implants to avoid a removable denture but the patient chose to have a denture.

Another option would be to have a denture to replace the missing back teeth but this would be much less stable than the fixed in dental implants

This case took 9 months to complete from start to finish including the dental crowns and dental implants.

Implants are planned using 3d x-rays (CBCT scans) this allows precise planning of the implant position to ensure the best outcome. Dental Smiles Takeley have a CBCT scanner to take these special x-rays.

There were some temporary crowns at the front of the mouth and also a temporary denture for the back teeth while the implants healed into place before the crowns could be attached.

Implants need brushing and flossing just like real teeth to keep the gums around the implants healthy. The dental hygienist also can clean around implants using special instruments. It is important to have regular dental check ups to make sure the mouth and implants are healthy.
