Invisalign® Clear Braces and Composite Bonding

This patient was unhappy with the crowded teeth and the ‘pointy’ canine teeth. There was also an existing discoloured filling on one of the front teeth that she wanted to replace.

She was treated with Invisalign clear braces, teeth whitening and composite bonding to four teeth.

  • Possibly, but this would have resulted in a poor result. When teeth are very crowded bonding results in very ‘thick’ composite to make the teeth look straight.

  • The teeth straightening took 3 months along with teeth whitening. The bonding was completed in one appointment.

  • Yes. All orthodontic treatments need some retainers. This case had a fixed retainer bonded to the teeth and removable clear Vivera retainers

  • Composite bonding tends to look its best for around 5 years. This can be longer with good care and occasional re-polishing.

  • Not in this case. The lower teeth were well aligned and the back teeth were biting well. This can be assessed on a case by case basis.

  • The options were to ‘pay as you go’ or in stages with dental finance spread up to 48 months.
